What Have You Done For You Lately???

Standard

Hey ladies, post something that you have done for yourself lately–solely for you! I’ll start:

Today I am meeting a friend at the nail salon for a mani/pedi.  I thought about taking some papers to grade, but to Hades with that idea! I just wanna relax and kick back!

I have a new polish I want to try by Deborah Lippman called Happy Birthday.  It is really pretty and festive.

Your turn!

Dirty Old Man?!

Standard

This just doesn’t feel right to me…what do you guys think?

Morgan Freeman’s divorce from his second wife of 26 years, Myrna Colley-Lee, is official. And now that he’s a single man, rumors are circulating (thanks to the trusty old, National Enquirer) that he’s getting ready to marry again…to his 27-year-old step-granddaughter, E’Dina Hines! Folks, we couldn’t make this stuff up if we tried!

Sweet Treat

I picked this up last night at the grocery store. The name, Twilight Delight, is what caught my eye. It of course made me think of the series which I am a fan of. I play for Team Edward! I can’t wait to see the last book, Breaking Dawn on the silver screen. It is so ripe with juicy plots that it just HAS to be good! Okay, I digress, back to the bar. This intense dark chocolate has undertones of mocha, blueberry, and dark cherry notes in each bite. Speaking of bite, I can’t wait to sink my teeth in this one.

For Me

Standard

10 things I’m going to start doing for myself:

1.  Drink more water, lol.  Seriously, I even bought a bottle of my favorite yesterday (Smart water, but would anyone dare sip Dumb water?!) and took a few swigs before my baby wrestled it out of my hands and slobbered all in it.

2.  Eat! My appetite has been extremely POOR! But I have been so exhausted as of lately.  I know my lack of eating is responsible for this.  An easy fix, so I’m forcing myself to eat whether I want to or not.

3.  Take a vitamin supplement DAILY: I dislike pills and therefore would sporadically take my vitamins.  I need to get over myself and swallow those pills for the good of the cause.

4.  Hang out with my kids more: Most of my day is consumed with household duties and I am conked by the end of the day.  I like my kids and WANT to spend more QUALITY time with them.  I will re-up my efforts.

5.  Read more: One of my favorite hobbies but I barely have time to do so.  Last night I did manage to read a chapter of The Winter Room by Gary Paulsen, a book Nic and I are reading together. I also signed the baby up for a reading program going on at the public library.

6.  Bake more: I am dying to bake a pink champagne cake.  I also want to try a different recipe for tre leches cake.

7. Av0id negative energy: Some people just suck the living daylights right out of your very being! I’m sick of these emotional vampires and will avoid them at every cost.

8.  Put me first sometimes: I am last on the totem pole in every event. I am working on inching up the pole.

9.  Not sweating the small stuff: I tend to let minor things completely overwhelm me.  This of course takes a toll on the psyche. I am going to start exercising the Serenity prayer and be done with it.

10.  Relaxing more: This is SOOOOOO hard for me to do.  I burn the candles at both ends.

First Fig

by Edna St. Vincent Millay

My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends —
It gives a lovely light!

But I don’t want to end up like this:

I Burned My Candle At Both Ends

by Samuel Hoffenstein

I burned my candle at both ends,
And now have neither foes nor friends;
For all the lovely light begotten,
I’m paying now and feeling rotten.

Better Than Expected

Last week I tried the swiss steak melt with broccoli and cheddar soup and was pleasantly surprised.  The soup is flavorful and filling. The melts are crisp and tasty. Not a bad lunch for $2.42!

*I didn’t like the baked potato soup, it was too bland. But the ham and  three cheese melt is very good dipped in the creamy tomato bisque.  And this is coming from a person who does not like tomato soup!

Be Ok

Standard

I first heard this song on a Mott’s applesauce commercial and instantly liked it.  I can so relate to its lyrics!  Of course it is now on my ipod, lol.

Be Ok

`Ingrid Michaelson

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today
I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today
I just want to feel something today
I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today
I just want to feel something today

CHORUS:
Open me up and you will see
I’m a gallery of broken hearts
I’m beyond repair, let me be
And give me back my broken parts

I just want to know today, know today, know today
I just want to know something today
I just want to know today, know today, know today
Know that maybe I will be ok

CHORUS

Just give me back my pieces
Just give them back to me please
Just give me back my pieces
And let me hold my broken parts

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today
I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today
I just want to feel something today
I just want to know today, know today, know today
Know that maybe I will be ok
Know that maybe I will be ok
Be OkayKnow that maybe I will be ok

In addition to our new home, we have something else new dwelling among us –a beautiful, bouncing baby boy! His name is Che and he is perfect! He has totally brought light into our dark days. He is the smallest of the sultans in the Queendom of Morocco!  His nickname is the Emperor!  We  just looooove him to pieces!
