Kindle

I’m curious, does anyone own a Kindle?  I think I want one, however, I am reluctant to let go of the real thing.  But, it is a good way to store books without worrying about the space they consume.  Though you couldn’t really loan them out either.  Decisions, decisions!

  1. Hi, it’s so good to see you back. I’ve missed you. It’s so funny that you should bring this subject up. I was going to ask people on Facebook this same thing and also ask on my blog. What brought it up was the new Stephen King novel I bought. It’s over 1000 pages and I started to read it and can’t even hold it in one hand. After one day of trying to read it, I put it on a shelf for summer reading when I’m out on my deck and can hold it in my lap. So it led me to wonder about The Kindle. I like that books are cheaper and I also like that it’s easier to store them. I don’t think to much about loaning out books because I’m pretty much the only reader I know. But I worry about glare in bright light and I also wonder if “it’s the same” as picking up a book a cracking the binding and the smell of the pages. I just don’t know if it would feel the same or if it would feel I was on the computer. I’ll be curious to see what people have to say.

  2. Hi!

I miss you! I was thinking the same about the feeling of having a book in my hands. I did a little online reaserch and some say that it is remarkable in that its pages have the “look” of a real page. I think I like books because they feel so personal. I tend to treatt them like old friends. It seems so weird that book have taken on this form. But I suppose things do change.

  3. I am so happy you’re back. I missed your writing. Now, to answer the question. My husband has a Kindle. He loves it. I have looked at it myself and it is fantastic. The pages are remarkably realistic. I feel the same way as Joy. It is a fantastic piece of technology, but nothing can replace a real book. I love books.

  4. I too have been looking at these types of things. My friend has a Kindle and she didn’t have the best experience with it. I’ve been trying to look at the new Sony one or the one being offered over through Barnes and Noble. I’d say do some good searches for reviews and you’ll find something.
